On 1 June 2009, Arla Foods and Promens entered into a contract for the continued delivery of the CombiPac® packaging for brands such as Kærgården, Dansk Lurpak, Bregott, Anchor, Lätt & Lagom and Dana Zola etc.
Under the agreement, the Promens facility in Stilling near Skanderborg will supply Arla’s packaging for these variants of the CombiPac® type for Arla’s dairies in Denmark and Sweden.
Since the successful launch of Kærgården in Denmark in 1990 – today one of the strongest brands in Denmark – the CombiPac® format has been Arla’s preferred packaging for spreadable products. In 2006, Arla chose to expand its market by launching a German Kærgården which has been such a huge success in the German market, and a version was also launched in Poland in 2008. Arla’s choice of CombiPac® as the preferred packaging for these strong brands is, among other things, a result of a long-standing partnership with Promens as supplier where quality, reliability of supply and professional collaboration are key words.
Lars Høgh Jensen, Category Buyer with Arla Foods, states: “Our choice of Promens as continued supplier is of course based on an actual business model where costs, supply chain factors and the like are being considered, but we also took into consideration that Promens for almost 20 years has been an extremely reliable and competent supplier of quality packaging for Arla and we would like to see this collaboration continue.”
Niels Chr. Schou, Sales & Marketing Director of Promens Food & Beverage Packaging: “We are very happy with being able to continue our long-standing and very stable collaboration with Arla. The new contract gives both parties the necessary peace of mind to continue developing both new and well-known packaging formats.”
The unique features of CombiPac® is, among other things, the minimal use of plastic material to the advantage of cardboard which ensures that Arla can continue to enhance its environmental profile in its choice of packaging.
As CombiPac® provides 100% UV protection, Arla is able maintain the product quality throughout the product life cycle as UV light is a significant cause of the butter degrading in terms of taste and smell.
