Promens are delighted to announce that we have formed a working arrangement in the UK with What a Waste Recycling.
This new agreement closes the loop for our HDPE trays and forms a collection and recycling system for our HDPE packaging.
Stating products as being recyclable is one thing, but offering customers a tangible solution is another. As a plastics manufacturer we try to take responsibility for our products throughout their lifecycle. Having in many cases, considerably reduced the landfill footprint of our packaging compared to competitors packaging systems, we are now making it easier for our end user customers to avoid landfill completely. Our arrangement with What a Waste can do just that.
What a Waste are able to collect, clean and regrind our trays, thereby providing an end product capable of making a whole host of other HDPE products. This system offers both environmental and commercial benefits to our customers.
If we look at one of our fastest growing markets, retail wet fish counters; the system would work as follows. After use, our trays are rinsed then stacked (our trays are nest-able and lightweight) and sent to the Supermarkets regional distribution centres for collection. What a Waste negotiates with the Multiple a buying or collection fee depending on volume, it really is that simple. What a Waste will then clean and grind the trays for recycling.
